The Langsford Learning Center and the Making Connections Network collaborated on a reading program at Lincoln Elementary School that raised the reading level of the children 1.4 grade levels while they and their parents had fun learning. Check highlights of the kids at Youtube.

Kindergarten Camp makes it fun for kids to prepare for school. They’ll do crafts, read books, and meet Clifford the Big Red Dog, among other activities.
Meanwhile, parents learn tips for easing the first day of school, how to support their kids’ learning, enrollment medical requirements, and financial education.
A free family fun night at Skate World on Preston Highway will be open to campers, their siblings and parents or guardians.
Camp is scheduled July 7 to 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily at Wheatley Elementary School, 1107 S. 17th St. Breakfast, lunch and snack are provided.
The camp, sponsored by Making Connections Louisville, is open to children in the Smoketown, Shelby Park, Phoenix Hill and California neighborhoods. They don’t have to be attending Wheatley in the fall.
Kids entering second grade can attend the “Summer Stars” camp during the same time at Wheatley. These campers will have the same fun the kindergartners have, while brushing up on reading strategies, and study skills.
For information about enrolling in Camp Kindergarten and Summer Stars, call Kris Rogers at 583-1426.
